Take a relentless determination to succeed and combine it with the an undying love for the pure art form of hip hop and music in general and you will have the essence of Justin Brave. From freestyling to writing, djing to producing, there seems to be very few arenas that he is unwilling to enter. Refusing to be pigeon holed into any one type of sound, he investigates the corridors and passageways of many different musical structures. Whether it’s boom bap, electro, blues, heavy rock or what ever else he gets his hands into, Justin Brave always creates a strong, distinctive architecture for us to put our ears to. Astounding collaborations with the likes of DJ Vadim, the Lifesavas, Swollen Members, Moka Only, Myka Nine, Abstract Rude, Scarub, Blackalicious and the many live musicians that lace lines into his production only reaffirm his ability to adapt and thrive in any situation. Lyrically, Justin Brave repeatedly promotes ambition over adversity and a sense of community over self-adoration while at the same always keeping his blades sharp and ready for any oncoming adversaries. Justin Brave served his performance apprenticeship at Western Canada’s longest running hip hop club night “Stirfry”; playing along side many other talented artists for over six years. These artists included Nelly Furtado, Kardinal Offishall, K-OS, Mix Master Mike, De La Soul and many, many more. Whether he’s chopping samples and banging out beats in his studio, moving your ass as he cuts in the next record in the club, or running through an vocal onslaught on the mic, people are sure to find a certain magnetic force in his maze. Justin Brave delivers something exclusive, refreshing and raw and somehow at the same time he gives us something that resonates at the core of our being.
